Job Description
This is a remote position.
Role Purpose
The Advocacy Officer supports the implementation of MenEngage Global Alliance’s advocacy strategy. The role contributes to the Alliance’s advocacy work by assisting with policy monitoring, coordination of advocacy activities, and the production of analytical and broader communications materials. The position works under the guidance of the Advocacy Manager and in close collaboration with the wider team.
Key Functions
- Support the Advocacy Manager and other team members on key advocacy-related activities and projects
- Support the strategizing, coordination, and participation in various global and regional advocacy spaces and initiatives, in coordination with AWG and regional networks, and in accompanying members in national advocacy efforts
- Assist development of accessible materials that translate advocacy-related outcomes into actionable insights for Alliance members.
- Monitor relevant policy processes and provide timely analysis for internal and external use.
- Support the organization of advocacy learning and capacity-strengthening spaces for Alliance members.
Requirements
Primary Responsibilities
Policy Monitoring, Analysis, and Influencing
- Track outcomes of relevant global and regional advocacy activities
- Prepare concise updates, analytical notes, and summaries for circulation across the Alliance.
- Contribute to monitoring and maintaining updated mappings of normative frameworks within the Alliance’s thematic priorities as related to men and masculinities.
- Support drafting of policy briefs and agendas on various priority themes as related to men and masculinities.
- Assist in outreach to policymakers and actors towards the vision of policy influencing.
Advocacy Coordination
- Support planning and organization of advocacy events, consultations, and learning sessions.
- Coordinate members’ participation in advocacy spaces and initiatives, including mobilization, information sharing, and support during advocacy events.
- Maintain the Alliance’s advocacy calendar, including global and regional advocacy moments aligned with the strategic plan.
- Convene and document internal advocacy meetings, ensuring accurate minutes and follow-up.
- Support the Advocacy Manager with hosting various advocacy working groups.
- Maintain Alliance-wide advocacy organizing, and information-sharing spaces.
Solidarity Actions
- Monitor upcoming advocacy campaigns, sign-ons, activism, and priority spaces led by members, partners, and feminist advocacy collectives.
- Share relevant opportunities, support coordination and engagement with external movements, and maintain communication flow with the team.
- Facilitate regional engagement, relationship building and leadership
Communications and Knowledge Dissemination
- Collaborate with the Advocacy Manager and Communications team to capture the Alliance’s engagement in global and regional advocacy spaces and develop accessible, timely communications, including social media and other public channels.
- Support identification and coordination of regional and national advocacy case studies and highlighting advocates’ work at global level.
- Assist in drafting policy briefs, advocacy updates, concept notes and related communication products.
- Support efforts to elevate regional and national advocacy knowledge products at the global level.

External-Facing Summary
The Advocacy Officer supports the implementation and development of the Alliance’s advocacy agenda. The role includes policy monitoring, research, and the development of analysis and communication materials, helping translate complex policy outcomes into accessible insights for members and partners. The Advocacy Officer coordinates advocacy activities and events, supports member participation in policy spaces, and strengthens the Alliance’s collective capacity to influence gender justice, women’s rights, and the transformation of patriarchal masculinities through policy changes. The role works closely with the Advocacy Manager, Global Secretariat colleagues, and regional and national networks to advance evidence-based advocacy and collaborative action.
