Specific Deliverables
Analysis
- Under the direction of the Southeast Africa Senior Analyst, contribute to ACLED analysis by (co)authoring original outputs focusing on Mozambique, especially for the Mozambique Conflict Monitor.
- Support the Southeast Africa Senior Analyst through data analysis and visualization.
- Support the Southeast Africa Senior Analyst with reviewing literature and material relevant to analysis projects.
- Support the Southeast Africa Senior Analyst with other analysis and data-related tasks as required.
- Liaise with partners in the Mozambique Conflict Monitor to verify information on recent events in Northern Mozambique.
Outreach and Data Literacy
- Under the supervision of the Southeast Africa Senior Analyst, prepare expert commentary and analysis for outputs produced by the External Affairs team.
- Under the supervision of the Southeast Africa Senior Analyst, prepare content to provide expert advice to donors and stakeholders upon request.
- Provide support to answering data-related requests from external parties.
Skills
- Experience in conflict analysis.
- Knowledge of politics and conflict in Mozambique.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science/Social Sciences/Geography/Conflict Studies or other subjects relevant to this position required, Master’s degree preferred.
- Familiarity working with ACLED data preferred.
- Knowledge of Tableau or other data analysis software is a plus.
- Fluency in English. Working knowledge of Portuguese is a plus.
- Strong critical thinking and analysis skills.
- Strong writing skills.
- A high level of attention to detail and the ability to receive and incorporate feedback.
- Experience working in a team, to tight deadlines, and with limited supervision.
- Access to a computer, a reliable internet connection, email address, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
